Happy Easter!

We had a fun Easter! My mom had an awesome Easter party, and Linc had so much fun with Mason and Myles. Like always. But Melissa already put something up about it, and I took no pictures, so look at her blog to see a cute picture of Lincoln and her boys playing with Linc's new train set.
And I will just show pictures of cute Lincoln a different day. On the 15th Salt Lake Community College had a kids egg hunt and Mike and I took Linc to it. He's quite the little egg sleuth! Not that they were so cleverly disguised in the "0-3 year old" section, or around his grandma's house yesterday..... but he really likes putting a lot into his basket quickly!


There was a "No parents allowed" rule, but in this babies area it wasn't enforced because.... kids that age don't get it. They need some assistance. The rule was abandoned in about 0-3 seconds.

And I wanted to put this pic up too. He looks pouty, but there's a funny story to it. We didn't stay long at the egg hunt. It was a very chilly morning, we barely showed up on time, then left right after w/o meeting the Easter Bunny because we knew he'd hate that. When we got back to the car, Mike took Linc's basket and got Linc in the backseat, then without him watching put most of the eggs and toys into a grocery sack so Lincoln could hold his basket in the back and not spill EVERYTHING. Mike handed him the depleted basket, and Linc made whiney noises. He can't count, but he knew he'd gotten more than that and he wanted them back from wherever they were. He said,"Hey.... mine!....ugh.... MAMA, I HAD MORE EGGS!" But he was just fine when he realized he could start eating the candy from the eggs he did have.

I hope you all had awesome Easters as well. This really was focused on the secular aspects ( that's life w/ a 2 year old.) but I really loved church yesterday also, and the meaning of Easter always makes me happy.

La La La La, Lincoln's World.....

On Saturday I took Lincoln to the Discovery Children's Center at the Gateway Mall. I thought he'd like seeing all the displays, and they have a special Sesame Street Presents: The Body" exhibit I thought he'd like, since he's a big fan of the show. Turns out he liked all the regular areas and displays and games even more then last time. The Sesame Street experience was a bit overwhelming to him, and he was too scared to do lots of the parts.

They have one of these penny things in the lobby (I dunno what to call them) and Linc learned quick the phrase,"I need more money!" I woulda been just fine with him not learning that until he's a teenager. At least he has just as much fun seeing other kids do their pennies, and also he knows the phrase,"No Lincoln."

Anyone who's had a rural/farming/small town background will find this story lame.... but whatever. My son's had a city life. So last time we were at this center, Lincoln was scared to be near this life-sized fiberglass horse model. But this time he actually liked it! Sat up there, grinned and said "Neighhh!" while I took his picture.

...then fed it a plastic carrot with some other kids! Whatever, it was cute. And it shows a lot of progress for him. I know if it was a real horse he'd still be terified. He can progress towards that now. :)

My theory is, Linc thinks Sesame Street should remain in it's proper place. On TV screens. He liked the displays that were more like decorated areas with TV's set up. Such as a Grover dancing party area, Elmo's World, and a Ernie handwashing instruction area (that was the most interactive learning station Linc would participate in for this exhibit. So I counted the day a success just for that.) This could use some progress too. My son is quite timid and scared to try new things (he got that from me. No question.), but is slowly getting braver. I think some more zoo trips are in order to develop this. He had so much fun there.... and it's cheaper!

Examples for good and bad

Lincoln copies everything! He has a comment about almost everything. And it's usually something he's heard somebody else say before. He's always been such a little mimic.
I realized a few days ago something bad I had taught him! Well for a month or so he's been saying "Mama, I broke this." when he takes something apart he can't reassemble or really does break something. And the other day he was looking at a toy he'd broken a few weeks ago, and I heard him say,"Oh crack, I broke this." When he said "crack" I realized he meant "crap", a word I exclaim in frustration sometimes. I know it's not a swear word and that's why I use it, but I didn't want him to use it. Shoulda known he'd pick up on it eventually! We sat down and had a serious little talk about how both of us are going to stop saying that word. Well, I was serious.
I guess I'm a bad example sometimes! He should try to be like his daddy.

Here is Lincoln wearing his dad's shoes. He obviously couldn't move in them very fast this way, so we actually could use the camera and get non-blurry pictures!I'd be very happy if Lincoln grows up to be a lot like his Daddy. I married a good man who is a good example to his family.

And also, on Feb. 27 Mike's brother and his wife gave birth to Benjamin Aries Christensen. It's the first real nephew for both Mike and I, and Linc's first real cousin! And here is his picture.

I hope Lincoln can be a good example and a good playmate to Ben as they grow up.

Linc loves the zoo!

Lincoln has been to the zoo a couple times already, but when we went last week it was the first time he's really been old enough to get into it and enjoy it. Oh boy did he enjoy it! He loved seeing the animals, and for every one he saw he told me what noise he thought it made.

Bears and Leopard and Lion: Rrraw! Correct!

Penguins: Tweet tweet(because they are birds). Probably not exactly correct, but I didn't want to discourage him.

Zebras: Neighhh! Well, they look like horses. Who am I to argue?

All the monkey types: Ooh Ooh!Hahaha! Correct, except for the laughter Lincoln added at the end.

Alligator: chomping teeth noise. That would be correct, if it was awake when we saw him. But Lincoln liked that one the most anyways. It really was cool, it was a rare white alligator, and the only good picture I got at the zoo this time.

I'm gonna have to go back soon. We couldn't even stay more then a couple hours that day, to his dissapointment. He loves it and it's so educational, we'll definetley be back soon.

Lincoln's greatest fear

For those of you who saw Melissa's blog, you saw Linc went to Mason's party, and he also went to Mason's Chucky Cheese party. I was hoping he'd like Chucky Cheese more than when I had his very traumatizing 2nd birthday party there last summer. As it turned out, he liked it about the same as last time.

That's what he does when there's something happening he doesn't like, even if it isn't loud. He just does not want to think about it or hear it, so the hands go over the ears.
So that's Lincoln. Still didn't like the very loud music, didn't care for the rides, and passionately hates the Chuck E. Cheese mouse even more then last time. I mean wow, when we saw him.... I don't think Lincoln has ever screamed that loud in his life! That was right before we left, of course. :)
But he still loves pizza, birthday cake, playing skee ball with Mama's help, getting tickets traded for toys, and of course seeing Mason and Myles. He talks about those boys a lot, he loves them so much. I think it is their similar Thomas obsessions!
